Call them. I called yesterday and they said it was sitting there with an error, so now it will take an additional 30 days to do whatever they are doing. So annoying. They couldn't tell me why it was flagged, but I'm assuming because the solar panel credit. Uhhh
Good luck!
My return was accepted on 2/13.... no movement since then....
I just tried to call using the instructions posted in this thread several times
I just got an automated message saying that due to extremely high call volumes on this topic they wouldn't be processing my call and to try again later.... then it hung up
Nice...
I got that the first time too. Try again a little later. Eventually you will get through.
Got a call from the Systemic Advocacy Management System.
They closed out my issue due to it being "an IRS problem" and there was nothing they could do for me. Only thing they told me to do was to keep calling the IRS.
Pulled up my "where's my refund" status, and for the first time in 13 weeks it actually had a different message:
"We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe. You can continue to check back here for the most up to day information regarding your refund. We understand your tax refund is very important and we are working to process your return as quickly as possible."
This is by far the the most derelict government agency in the entire country.
Hang in there. I was in the exact same boat until this morning. Same IRS tracking update with the “we’re sorry” still processing, then I looked for my tax transcripts like I do every day and it’s finally there! It says my refund will be deposited on the 15th. What a nightmare it’s been but we’re finally going to get our money.
Same issue. Filed 2/10 and got approved on turbo tax 2/12. Received my state refund within a week and am still waiting on federal return. Still says processing when using the IRS app and can’t get ahold of anyone on the phone.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
Keep checking your transcripts on the irs website. Mine finally updated and then the next day the app updated. Mine are FINALLY getting deposited tomorrow. Hang in there but check your transcripts, it’s like they were in a black hole and then finally showed up. It says they processed it on April 15th- how convient ! They’ve had it processing since Feb 10th! I feel like they should have to pay us interest.
Mine too ! I also had a SDI thing . Dang ! My taxes have been sitting since January !
Anyone else still waiting for any kind of update besides "accepted" on the refund tracker? This is CRAZY to not even get so much as a letter from them addressing their delay. I have to keep calling just hear the same "no update yet" response. They literally have over 6k dollars of this single mom's money. There is nothing off the table these days for what the government can and will do with your money. Valuable life lesson. Don't ever count on them to refund your taxes.
I am still waiting too.
Oh I'm so glad I found this thread! We filed on 2/14, accepted on 2/16, and we have not received any communication since. We should have received our refund March 6th and here we are. I assumed it was only us so of course I was expecting to be audited or something. Not that I'm happy it's happening to a lot of people but I'm so happy to hear it's not just us. Thanks to this thread I have information on how to contact an actual human to ask about this. We are expecting a sizeable return and are extremely frustrated a 'glitch' is causing all this. Seems like they should start paying us interest if they have delayed our refunds this much and not past a specific date they pick. I guess Monday I'll be calling...
We are also having the same trouble. Our return got accepted 2/16. I called the IRS today and the person I spoke with was aware of the problem because others have called as well, and she sent my file to a department to supposedly correct it. We were told if we don't have our money in two weeks to call back. My guess is I'll be calling again, don't want to get my hopes up.
I also contacted SAMS and their reply was less than stellar:
"Thank you for submitting an advocacy issue on the Systemic Advocacy Management System (SAMS). We are aware of the delays in the processing of Form 5695, Residential Energy Credits for 2023 and are working with the IRS to address this issue. Meantime, we recommend you check Where’s My Refund for the most up to date information on the processing of your tax return and the status of your refund.
Thank you for your participation. Every submission helps us identify trends, which lead to new approaches to improving the IRS and tax administration. Many also provide persuasive examples and data for the National Taxpayer Advocate’s Annual Report to Congress. Thank you for your submission and participating in the Systemic Advocacy Program."
So their answer gets us nowhere quick since I've been checking RMF since end of March.
I just checked today, as I have done almost every day for a while now, and it was finally approved to be deposited this Thursday! As many others have posted, it looks like they do finally come through. Hopefully they take care of all of you before June 1 too. That is when some have calculated they will have to start paying you interest. Wish you all the best.
I'm still waiting as well. I was promised either a refund or correspondence by May 25th, but they're cutting it down to the wire, because it's the 23rd and I still don't have my refund and haven't received a letter. It's very frustrating.
