Say mailing refund when was supposed to be direct deposits

I talked to Intuit support and they said if this happens they will pull from the account designated for DD mid to late march(for me as mine is 03/01 check date) and send 2 warnings that it is coming out.

I dont think the amount matters. I know a coworker whom has gotten dd and refunds over 25k.

I also have the same issue. We have filed with turbo tax for the last 7 years and have had DD every year with no issues. Now this year it says it will be mailed by March 1st. I’m hoping this is an error and not accurate.

I don't know what's going to happen I've used TurboTax also for 10 years same account number always had a direct deposit with over 10K in refund someone on Facebook has now told me IRS will release it to Santa Barbara and my check will come from Santa Barbara so no telling how long this is going to take to get a check.. I don't know who's right and who's wrong

Hello everyone, I've been following this thread because this happened to me as well. I just got off the phone with and IRS agent who informed me that it is in fact due to the amount being over 10k and the rules associated with FICA. So unfortunately, looks like we will all be receiving paper checks.

Thanks for calling and checking but I think he/she was just trying to get you off the phone as I talked to someone else at IRS and he referred me to this:

The IRS has no dollar limit on direct deposit of refunds. However, direct deposit must only be made to accounts bearing the taxpayer's name. ... The fourth and subsequent refunds automatically will convert to a paper refund check and be mailed to the taxpayer. For more information, see IRS Direct Deposit Limits

I am thinking that the IRS is randomly selecting refunds over 10k to be mailed out for unknown reasons. I honestly just wish they could give us a better idea when check will vmbe here as I checked other boards and some got it on the day it was to be mailed and others 3-5 days after. I heard checks are only mailed on Fridays and I have heard that is no longer true in 2019 so who knows !

Its complete BS sborner and I agree with you..  I am needing my refund like right now and the IRS and our Lawmakers over in the Ringling Brothers Circus tent are doing everything they can from avoiding having to pay us interest on the money they owe us.  Pure 100% greed.  If some of us would band together and just file a class action lawsuit against the government, we can make it change because it sure is harming the consumers.

I was talking to someone yesterday that was also dealing with the path hold and they received their refund Tuesday.  Its just so random on how they are issuing the refunds this year.  Some are weekly and others are daily.  Its like they are profiling tax payers.

Please let us know if anyone labeled March 1st mailed actually gets it dd on March 1st. I always have a refund over 10k and always get it dd. This time they say approved and mailing by March 4th. And can it be sent between now and the 4th or does "mailing by" actually mean its sent that day?

My husband and I have always gotten a DD regardless of the amount (some have been over 10k) we got ours last year on the 6th of February and this year everything seems to be a nightmare. I do have to say prior years I received my refund in my account and looked back on the where’s my refund app and it still didn’t update saying that it was sent or even a date that it was being sent. I hope they give everyone their refunds DD Friday like we’re all supposed to.
