Request to Modify Tax Return – Work Duration Adjustment

Dear TurboTax Support,

I recently submitted my tax return through TurboTax, and it has already been accepted by TurboTax but not yet by the IRS. However, I need to make a correction. I originally stated that I worked in the U.S. for more than six months, but I should have indicated that I worked for less than six months.

Could you please advise me on how to modify my tax return accordingly? Let me know if any additional steps are required on my end.

Thank you for your assistance.

Best regards,
Isalin

Request to Modify Tax Return – Work Duration Adjustment

You cannot make any changes to a tax return that is in pending, while you wait to see if the return is accepted or rejected.   If it is accepted, you have to wait until the return has been fully processed and then amend as necessary to make any changes.

If the return rejects----then there is another consideration----

If you are a non-resident alien, your return must be filed on Form 1040NR, which cannot be prepared using TurboTax.  You can use TT’s partner, sprintax:

If the return is rejected you may need to start over using sprintax.
