Refund was accepted on January 21. Said processing for 2 weeks. Third week says take action, if you have any questions contact us, 1581. Finally get thru and they tell me I was reported deceased in July. This matter was taken care of back in September and I even created an ID me account as well as appointment with social security in person. Social security says the matter was corrected when I had the appointment in September, so they don't know why IRS didn't update. Anyway they sent an electronic verification and wmr still says take action. They've been taking taxes all year and now they're wondering if I'm alive?

If you're not getting action as per described dates given to you by IRS, you might want to get in touch with the Taxpayer Advocates Office. They should be able to help and speed things up. Here is a link to start in that process.

You would think so, but when someone answered after an hour on hold they said they don't research individual tax returns.
IRS says:
it could take 120 days or longer to resolve these issues.
by "these issues", they mean issues like yours.
I'm still waiting after ten months (300 days).
Oh no!!! I guess I may as well forget about it then. Just wish I knew what the issue was.
