I filed my taxes and accidentally stated that I never received the third stimulus check in 2021 because I thought I didn’t and then found out I did. Do I need to amend my return to fix it so they don’t accidentally give me $1,400 that I already got or will the IRS fix it themselves before or after I receive the refund?

Just wait. The IRS knows they sent you the 1,400 and will automatically take it off your return line 30. It will probably delay your refund or turn it into a tax due.
Thank you so much! I was very worried that I messed up. If they make it a “tax due” would they put it on my taxes next year to pay or would they just take the money back as soon as possible? I’m new to doing taxes so I’m unsure what that means. I can’t hold onto $1,400 for a whole year so I hope they just take it back right away if they’re going to put it with my refund or not give it to me at all..
Don't expect the IRS to resolve this quickly. It will probably take 3-4 months with the current IRS overload nd delays.
