Yes you will need to amend to add that and pay self employment tax on it.
You should not amend until the first return has fully processed and you get the first refund or your tax due payment has cleared.
The amended return don't be ready until March 17, 2022
If you are self employed you never have to wait for the 1099 forms to come in the mail since you should be keeping records of all the income and expenses you have to report on the Sch C. The entering in of the 1099 forms are not required by the IRS if you enter in your total income received that includes the 1099 income ... look at the Sch C and see that only the total is sent on your return from you. The 1099 forms are sent to both you AND the IRS and that is how they know if you entered all your income.
That’s the first job I’ve ever had that I was considered self employed I work for an actual company and didn’t even know i was considered self employed until the form said 1099. It was a normal job I went to everyday 8 hours a day and I only stayed two weeks at. I know I should’ve asked more but I don’t know how to fix this
While you wait for the opportunity to amend the tax return, check out bank and credit card statements to see what expenses you can take to offset that income. Examples could be vehicle (or local transportation0, meals, portion of home and portion of certain utilities including your cellular phone.
Amend when the original return has been fully processed to add the Sch C ...
If you have net self employment income of $400 or more you have to file a schedule C in your personal 1040 return for self employment business income. You may get a 1099-NEC for some of your income but you need to report all your income. So you need to keep your own good records. Here is some reading material……
