"Ready to mail" means that your return will be printed (by you) and mailed to the IRS (by you). If you chose direct deposit for your refund option, then your refund will still be sent this way after the IRS processes your paper mailed return. If you've chosen to mail your return , the 'status' of your return will not display as accepted or rejected. Instead, it will display 'ready to mail' to indicate you've completely finalized your return. Once mailed, you can check the status of your refund using the Where's My Refund tool on the IRS website. Your information could take 3 or more weeks to register in the system. https://www.irs.gov/refunds
