Why would CA state return still show as pending after 2 days?

In past years the CA state return was accepted in minutes, it has now been two days.

I'm closing this thread.
Many transmission hiccups have been resolved.

If your return is still "pending" 48 hours after e-filing, please send me a private message. It's also been reported that the IRS tracking tool is seeing delays.

I had the same problem. I filed both on Jan 31 and got my federal return today. Still nothing concerning my CA return. I got in touch with CA FTB and they stated that they didn’t open for business until Feb 5. So, if anything was sent prior to the fifth of Feb, it wouldn’t have been accepted. And, unfortunately, it wasn’t rejected either. He used the wording as it was a one shot try. He said I should go in and try to resubmit it in TurboTax which didn’t work. He then suggested I print it out and send it through the mail. I then called TurboTax to see if they could resubmit my state tax return. The guy said he couldn’t because he had no access to my file. He then said he would send me a refund paper which I would have to fill out and send back so I could get my filing charge back. So, even though TurboTax said they e-filed your state tax form, they didn’t because the state hadn’t opened for business yet. I have no idea how the woman who filed very early got her state refund back.

There is no point contacting TurboTax. Based on what I’m hearing you will only get ‘maybe’ which means that don’t know. Based on the ftb site they started accepting returns in January but all forms were not available. I don’t see why we can’t refile if California has not accepted our return.

Same here. Federal was accepted 2/12. California still pending. Both filed 2/1

I'll bet if they knew they were going to lose 25-50% of their customers that they would be more proactive with customer service and communication to assuage the concerns of that customer base. This may be the last time I use their products.

First...and Last.....time I will use TurboTax.

I always used a tax accountant in the past, but decided I would save a little and do it myself.

I will not make that mistake again.

So I just got a text message four minutes after I submitted saying that it was rejected. I sincerely hope that text message was part of the original email message (which was sent twenty minutes earlier) saying the same thing and this text was not addressing the latest submission.

Anyone get a delay in the rejection message between their email message and text message, assuming you got both? I just checked online and it still says pending.

Yes see my previous post...I got the same text message about 20 min after I re-submitted my CA return. I hope it's just delayed messaging.

FYI - we’ve been in same boat as you all. Submitted returns before the 12th of Feb, Federal was accepted right away on that date, CA state has been pending. I just received an email from Turbotax stating CA state return was rejected due to a Turbotax software error. Have to resubmit and efile again. Hopefully things will move quickly now. Just a heads up!

I just received an email from TurboTax stating that my state was rejected due to a software issue in their part ... just resubmitted again hoping everything goes well now ...

Like others, I received an email stating that TurboTax had a software error and I had to re-file CA State again. I followed the instructions and it now says "Pending" again. Hopefully it'll go through within the next 24-48 hours this time. We should get compensation for the time we've had to put into researching this issue and correcting TURBOTAX's mistake.

A glitch in their software. I just received an email stating that my return was rejected due to a software glitch. It stars to follow the directions and it will be corrected.

They had an error in the software that doesn’t allow you to get the benefit of some right offs. I received and email this afternoon. All I had to do was log in and resubmit because the error didn’t pertain to me. If it does pertain to you, you may be eligible for a larger refund if you are receiving one.

Just checked the efile history: 4:04pm, the return was forwarded to state agency.

I just did the same check...and I have the exact same forwarded time of 4:04pm. I submitted my correction much earlier so perhaps Turbotax double checked it before forwarded to cal state.
