If you used the download Desktop program then the only copy of your return is on that computer and not online. You must have used the Online version before if you are seeing 2023 and prior online, then they were not done in the Desktop program. Did you use your family member's computer? Then you need to ask them for a copy of your return.
Thinking about this more. If 2024 worked as before I think you might have actually used the Online version instead of the Desktop download. When you filed did it ask you to pay any Turbo Tax fees? There would have been a $25 fee to efile a state return.
If you used the Online version then click on Add a State to let you back into your 2024 return to print.
That must be it! I've always used the website but this time I did use their PC and it was a downloaded TurboTax program they bought. I'm pretty sure it prompted me to download the return after completion so I'll explore that route. Thank you!
Well the downloaded program should have looked different than the Online version. Did it have the menu items going across the top instead of down the left side like the Online version?
In the Desktop program your return is saved as a data file ending in .tax2024. You need that file to open in the program. Then if you didn't save the pdf file you can open the .tax2024 file. Also you will need the .tax2024 file to transfer into next year. Either to the Online version or the Desktop program.
But there can be a problem when saving your return. Do any of the other returns have the same name initial as you or your spouse? There is a problem saving returns if 2 returns use the same initials, one will overwrite the other. So you have to be sure to save the returns with names completely different to keep them apart. Don't use the default name given by the program. Go up to File-Save As and give it a unique name.
