Why cant I download my 2012 taxes

The IRS and TurboTax save tax returns for seven years.  A 2012 return is from eight years ago.

Why cant I download my 2012 taxes

You can try getting a transcript of the return from the IRS.   It will not look like the Form 1040 but it will have the information from the return.
