When you mailed the 2014 federal tax return and did not use any type of tracking service then you will not know when or if the IRS received the tax return.  If your tax return had a tax refund you would need to contact the IRS and speak with an IRS agent concerning the status.  You should wait a minimum of 4 weeks after mailing to contact the IRS about the tax refund.  The IRS website for tracking a federal tax refund is only for the current tax year.

Call the IRS:  1-800-829-1040  hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
