I got this message: "We apologize, but your return processing has been delayed beyond the normal timeframe."
It's very worrisome. Same thing happened to me a couple years ago. I filed electronically. We have very few income sources, but the IRS sent me a letter asking for paper backups. It delayed my refund considerably. I hope this isn't happening again. Depending on the USPS to get info to the IRS isn't a great option.
I received my refund yesterday but it's still saying this....so maybe it just a problem with them being understaffed
The WMR? tool has been unreliable and often lags behind ... remember the IRS has not had a program upgrade or newer equipment for several years now ... they are using antiquated computers.
The WMR? tool has been unreliable and often lags behind what is actually happening ... sometimes you have the refund in hand and it still says they have no record of your filing.

No updates for me yet. Hopefully something tonight. Fingers crossed. My paycheck hit last night and I saw it and was like that’s not my refund, what the heck is that! But then I remembered lol.
No update no nothing.. still waiting patiently almost a month since I was accepted they is really doing to much now…..
Girl same. I filed January 29th. Just over here twiddling my thumbs.
I field on Jan 9 got accept on jan21 then been seeing this message yesterday it changed to we will have a date for you as soon as possible then. dismorning back to this messages sorry but ur refund is being delayed. Come one its been 35 days
If this is happening to those of us who filed early and electronically, I feel sorry for those who file in March or April.
I still want to point out to everyone that people who are using personal tax preparers are getting their refunds. I've talked to over 10 people this week who have filed with personal people and have received their refunds already. But a big majority who has used a service hasn't.
Hello everyone I got some information that will blow your mind. If anyone can see there transcript on irs website. If you log on and go to account transcript and stroll all the way down to the bottom of the page you will see a code 846 it will tell you your refund issued date. And if anyone was getting the child tax credit for those months it has those payments dates as well when you was receiving them so my date is March 2
I can see my transcripts. But I have no date yet. My as of date changed to the 14th of March instead. So still waiting.
That actually makes sense. It wouldn't surprise me if the IRS programmers fixed their system to separate incoming tax returns by source so that they can have various departments for each source type. In other words, one department for TurboTax returns, another department for H&R Block returns, another department for personal tax preparers, etc. That would allow each department to be trained to look for certain problem areas.
@Jerjer @Go to account transcript 2021 and stroll all the way to the bottom you should see something. My changed to but it has a code 846 refund issued date and it say at the end. This product contains sensitive taxpayer date
It’s 4 transcript boxes go to the third box that says account transcript
