Several reasons----one---never amend your return while your original return is stil lbeing processed unless you want to confuse the IRS and delay your refund for months.
two---the form 1040X you want is still under revision and is not ready in the software
three---if you are wanting to amend because of the new unemployment tax law change the IRS urges you to wait.
The situation that applies is #2 (the form 1040X you want is still under revision and is not ready in the software). Is that's TurboTax's software?
The date it should be ready in the software has been changed to March 18---a few days from now.
Once your return has been processed you will complete a Form 1040X --- which is not yet available --- and submit it to amend the mistakes made when you filed your original return. It takes the IRS at least four months to process an amended return.
The Form 1040X you need is under revision and is not ready yet. The Form 1040X does not become available in the software until March 18 (subject to change).

If you are not willing to wait for the software you can prepare it on a paper form and mail it in. Either way---expect it to take 4-6 months for the IRS to process your amended return.
You can print out that 1040X form if you want to use it—-and prepare your amended return by hand to mail in instead of waiting to use the software and e-file it.

Same for me! Does that mean the original will be ready in the 25th?
You can't file an amended return until after the 25th for several reasons.
The IRS does not want people filing amended returns when they still have original returns to process and the IRS does not want someone filing an amended return until after THAT TAXPAYER'S original return has been processed.
Additionally WHY you are filing an amended return matters. If it is to adjust for the new tax rules concerning unemployment, the IRS does not want you to file an amended return at all. They are adjusting for that on the original returns that have been filed, even the ones already processed. Those taxpayers will get an additional refund if applicable.
The IRS has already accepted and processed my original return and it has deposited my refund in my bank account.
I forgot to enter the information from my SSA-1099 form on my original return so I now need to file form 1040x
I messed up the address on my return. Which is why I tried to amend it. Will my return be available on the 25th I haven’t received that.
The Form 1040X is expected to be available in the TurboTax software on March 25, 2021,
You can use the following link to check and find out when it is released for paper printing and e-filing:
TurboTax Expected Dates of Availability of federal forms
IRS is very busy right now with updating the American Rescue Plan into the IRS tax code, processing current year returns, sending out the Third Stimulus Checks and still processing 2019 paper returns.
If it will cause you to have a balance due, then you need to get it filed by May 17, the extended federal filing deadline so you can pay any additional balance due with it so you will not be penalized, but cannot file it until March 25 when the 1040X form is expected to be available.
If it will not change your refund or balance due on your federal and state returns, then it is not necessary to amend before the extended filing deadline of May 17.
I filed my taxes but there was a mistake it was supposed to be filed married filing jointly but it was filed single I tried to amend it but got nowhere. I was supposed to receive 2800.00 and I only got 1400.00what do I have to do to correct it
