Are u serious right now? It Can take up
to if not longer (3weeks)?
Hello this happened to me only I knew they were going to closed it a couple days before so I called them and they said it will only be suspended so the day before my return was so supposed to be deposited they closed it.So so Santa Barbara got check on the 23rd so how long would it take before it goes back and they send me paper check?
thank you
Oh so your bank rejects refund but it doesn’t go bk to irs? You will get a check from Santa Barbara Bank?Thats great news if I understood that right!Btw your post is 2 years old so you may not even see this lol
It happened to me last yr. I should've gotten my refund February but put my bank routing number wrong. I got my paper check last June. Yeah that long. But that was also when irs were too busy with the stimulus.
How long did it take for you to receive your check ?
My refund was sent to my bank on 2/24 but got rejected because of a closed account.. how long before the IRS issue a check ?

It depends on whether the rejected deposit was coming directly from the IRS to your bank, or if you used the option to pay any TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund.
If the funds were coming directly from the IRS to your closed account, then it goes back to the IRS, who issues a check in about 3 weeks or so normally. They mail it to the address shown on your return.
On the other hand, if you paid any fees out of your Federal refund, then the IRS sends the funds to an intermediary bank where the fees are subtracted. Then that intermediary bank sends the rest to your bank in a second direct deposit. If that's your situation and it was that second deposit that was rejected by your bank, then it goes back to the intermediary bank, and the third-party company that administers that (SBTPG) would send you the check.
So ur saying it will take longer than 3 weeks or could possibly still be the same? Because I’m in same boat except Pnc closed my account three days prior to return behind deposit and the irs sent check February 23 and turbo took their money out now the question is where is our check because no one will answer or tell us its just magically in the air lol I’ve tried calling irs for 8 days and it keeps hanging up don’t matter if its 7 am or 5 pm you can’t get thru and I paid all this extra money for turbo tax to not be able to do anything literally let alone answer a question but they sure in the hell took their money I’m so done with turbo and I don’t recommend at all smdh either way we’re all screwed and no one can say for sure am exact time on when any of

Right.. like I paid for turbo tax deluxe .. reading through the comments on here I called sbtpg still bout quite sure what it is but it’s some taxpayers phone line associated with TurboTax and tells you the exact refund amount ( didn’t know that ) . I’ve read that maybe they can send you a check instead since they already too they fees out ? I could be wrong idk but right now I’m stuck and want to know where my money is… and I think that when the irs is updating your account it tells you your information is incorrect on the wmr tool.. so I’m hoping Monday it’ll update and tell me my check was mailed because my bank rejected it.
@mesquitebean Thank you .. I’m lost atp

We don't know HOW you paid your TurboTax fees. If you paid fees out of your Federal refund, then the IRS doesn't send a direct deposit to your bank. In that situation, the IRS sends the funds as a direct deposit to SBTPG's bank, where the fees are subtracted. Then SBTPG's bank would try to send the rest as a direct deposit to your bank, which you said refused it. So in that case (where one has paid fees out of the refund), it would go back to SBTPG's bank (not the IRS), and SBTPG would issue a paper check in postal mail. That process takes a few days and postal mail is not very fast these days.
If that is your situation, i.,e, if you paid TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, then you can use this tool at SBTPG's website to check on your refund.
To log in to the SBTPG refund tool, choose the "For taxpayers" portal at:
https://www.sbtpg.com/
SBTPG has a phone contact page at the following link. It also shows their business hours. Even when they are closed, you may be able to get automated info, or you can log in as above.
https://help.sbtpg.com/hc/en-us/articles/230084587-Contact-Information
If you did not pay the TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund and instead paid the fees upfront by credit/debit card, then the only parties involved in the attempted direct deposit are the IRS and your bank, and SBTPG would not be involved.
The bank returned my income tax check how long will it take for the irs to issue a paper check
