My refund was about 3K less than expected. I didn’t ever get a 2nd stimulus that I know of but I have a daughter- did she qualify for any stimulus’?
I have had people that filed already as well and claim no one took any of the stimulus’ out of there refund and they’ve gotten there full amounts. It just all doesn’t make sense.

The 2021 tax return is only for reporting the 3rd stimulus payment of $1,400 per person on the 2021 tax return.
Does the IRS website indicate that you were sent less than what was reported on your federal tax return Form 1040 Line 34? - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If you are eligible for EIP1, EIP2, or EIP3, you can claim it and you will get it.
The 2nd stimulus check should have been claimed on your 2020 tax return. If you did not claim yours and you are sure that you did not receive it, you may consider amending your 2020 taxes.
Did you claim your daughter on your return last year? If not, somebody else might have received the 3rd stimulus check on her behalf. I don't have enough information to guess what happened to the other people you are referring to, but I don't believe that IRS will send them another $1,400 if they had already received one.
She was born in Nov 2020 so that’s when it got confusing. I received the first one for $1000, can’t remember any second 1 and then got $2800 for the 3rd? I just don’t feel this is right with a child.
Her dad is not able to claim him on his taxes and I know he didn’t start his yet.
If you were getting stimulus payments based on yourself and your daughter, the full amount for the first payment was 1200 for you and 500 for your child (since the child was born in 2020).
The second payment would have been 600 for you and 600 for your child.
The third payment would have been 1,400 each, so 2,800 sounds right.
You can check the IRS Your Online Account to see what the IRS has on their record as what you were already issued for the payments.
One thing to keep in mind, since the child was not born until 2020, you may not have received the proper amount of stimulus PAYMENTS, but you may have gotten the difference as a credit on your 2020 tax return. That would have been on your 2020 Form 1040 Line 30.
ADDITIONALLY did you remember to enter the amount of any Advance Child Tax Payments you received?
Those payments may have been sent to you and those payments are different than stimulus payments.
They must also be entered into the TurboTax program so that the amount issued is subtracted from your Child Tax Credit.
If you find you are missing the first and/or second stimulus payments, you need to file an amended 2020 return to get that missing amount as a credit.
