IRS accepted my federal return for $2200 and TPG deposited $640 in my account. WTF??

Sometimes we can make an educated guess as to the reason for your reduced refund if you mention specific amounts--for example if your refund was short by $1400---it is likely to be a mix up regarding the 3rd EIP payment. If it is short by $1800 or $1500 or a multiple of that amount --- maybe a mixup regarding the advance child tax credit payments.
Or---the fees you were supposed to pay for using TurboTax + the "refund processing fee" charged by the third party bank….
Did you choose to have TT fees deducted from your Federal refund? (Remember that if you did that, you also agreed to an extra refund processing fee of $39.99 or $44.99 in CA)

You’re full of **bleep**. You stole from me. PERIOD.
Sorry----you are upset. "I" did not steal from you. I do not even work for TurboTax. The people who are answering questions in this forum are unpaid volunteers who are trying to help people. Wait for the letter that you will be receiving from the IRS.
TT does not ever receive your refund, so cannot steal it. And the IRS does not notify TT when it makes an adjustment and/or offset.
Give me contact info for TPG PRPDUCTS.
Your tax refund was not sent to TurboTax. TurboTax does not handle your refund at all.
Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, LLC (SBTPG) is the bank that handles the Refund Processing Service when you choose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your refund. This option also has an additional charge from the bank that processes the transaction.
You can contact them SBTPG, toll-free, at 1-877-908-7228 or go to their secure website www.sbtpg.com

There is no way in hell I chose to give $1600 to ANYONE for me doing my own taxes.
I don’t have children so it NOT a child tax credit issue. This is terrible.
@sd22sd Have you even tried looking at your IRS account to see if the IRS shows that you received the $1400 stimulus last year? Because if you did receive it and then had $1400 on line 30 of your tax return---that is your problem. That $1400 plus TurboTax fees could have added to the amount you think you are short by.
When you look at the IRS refund site does it say they sent you the whole refund amount you expected or does it give you a message about a reduced refund?
I did not receive any stimulus money! I’m a single woman, no children and I’m not an idiot. So the government didn’t think I needed a handout.
Take a deep breath ... we are trying to help you here to figure out what happened & give you a solution but your indignation is not helping here.
First ... the IRS only ACCEPTED the return for processing ... did not accept your refund amount. Now during processing they probably corrected the return most likely for the $1400 stimulus credit. Please look at the IRS site to see how much they actually sent ... was it $1400 short ?
If so in the program ... Answering No on the question asking if you received a 3rd stimulus payment means you told TurboTax that you did not receive any payments.
In that case, TurboTax would add an amount on line 30 Form 1040 because you said you never received any stimulus money but if the IRS disagrees they would remove the credit amount.
So... if you never received a stimulus deposit or check—and the IRS records show they paid you—then you should ask the IRS to trace your payment. Many payments were sent and not cashed so a trace is the only option available to you. Some were sent on debit cards that looked like junk mail and many folks thru them in the trash. If the payment was never cashed ONLY THEN can you send in an amended return to claim the credit and attach the findings letter with the 1040X form.
The fastest way to initiate a trace is to contact the IRS by calling us at 800-919-9835.
You can also complete Form 3911:
You will generally receive a response 6 weeks after we receive your request for a payment trace, but there may be delays due to limited staffing.
Don’t berate me. I’ll NEVER is Turbo Tax again.
I did not "berate" you ... I did not "scold" you I just asked you to take a moment to cool off. Then I gave you clear concise information on the possible situation you may have incurred like thousands of others have happened to them. This same info has been distributed on this form thousands of times successfully.
If this was not your issue and you want to talk to someone on the phone about your particular situation please contact TT support tomorrow during regular business hours :

Also please feel free to use any income tax service or program that you like however be aware that 99% of the errors made in a DIY program are not made by the program but by the user so please be aware of all the questions being asked of you and the answers you give. Maybe, if you qualify, you could try a free program offered at the IRS Free File link:
https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
Accepted means your return (tax filing) was received for processing. It does not mean that the amount of your refund was Approved. As you discovered, the IRS and/or State can change it. And those refunds come separately, at different times.
