Problem with amended form 1040 not showing as 1040X

***I read the instruction and the answer I am seeking is not included in that information***I am filing an amended return for 2021 and have made all of the changes but when I open my forms it does not show a 1040x. It says I can efile an amended return but how does the IRS know it is an amendment if it is not a form 1040x? I'm thinking I may have to mail this  to get it right.

Does Turbotax send all of the worksheets when they file your return or only the forms?

Please review these steps that outline the appropriate way to file a previous year amended return. If you're still having issues after the fact, reply here and we will further assist.

Yes, I read those articles before I started. The answer to this issue I am seeing  is not in those articles. I am opening the forms to see how they read and I do not see a 1040x. It says I can emend and efile but I don't want to do that if the wrong form is selected for filing. Why don't I see a 1040x in this filing or in my case a 1040SR-X or whatever that is called?

I have gone through the whole process of amending the return and I still do not see it labelled as 1040x. Your site states that amended returns can be efiled for 2021 so I'm in the 2021 TurboTax ready to file amended return thinking that since I can't get 1040x then I will efile so they can see it is an amendment. When I get to filing there is a series of incorrect messages. First I'm told that efiling is no longer an option on 2021 but when I hit return it asks for an amended return efiling and I select continue again and it asks me to review the filing information. Then when I press efile it returns and states that another check is required to confirm the return even though I was already told it was good. Then it asks me to select today's date for the filing date. I do that and then it tells me that I can't amend after 12/31/2021. It continues to ask me about the efiing and then I see a message that my filing was successful but then there is no confirmation that the efiling occurred. Seems like TurboTax has a lot of defects in it. What do I do now? Can you make efiling work?

Problem with amended form 1040 not showing as 1040X

I've already contacted TurboTax by phone 3 times. I have been directed to contact the IRS or to see what I can find on the community site so I am left with the impression that the people providing help at Turbotax are not particularly knowledgeable about the technology itself or taxes. I contacted the IRS and from the records they have for me on their site it appears that there are mistakes in Turbotax algorithms that no one is interested in resolving or able to explain how it is correct. Take for example my pension pay. When I read the IRS documents it states that box 5b on the 1040 should contain the taxable amount listed on my 1099-R. I have only one pension plan and no annuities and thus only one 1099-R. What Turbotax is filling into that box is nearly twice the amount from the 1099-R. The worksheet that Turbotax shows has the correct amount but somewhere it is converted to this other amount when placed in my 1040. Can you explain that?
