"My state and federal taxes were mailed"

You do not say how long ago you mailed your returns or if you used a mailing service to track them (such as UPS or certified mail) so that you know if the returns were received.  It could take 4-6 weeks after mailing your federal return to see anything on the IRS site--and longer to get your refund.  It is also important to know if you mailed the federal and state returns separately to the address for the IRS and the address for the state.  They cannot be mailed together.

Before you confuse the IRS and/or the state by now e-filing, please check the IRS and state sites:

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 20a of your Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

https://www.irs.gov/refunds

To track your state refund:

First you need to find out if the returns are in processing .... you cannot file a second return while one is being processed ... some states can take several months to complete.

In order to check your refund status to see your expected refund date, you need to do that with IRS and/or your state.

For your federal refund, you can check the status at https://www.irs.gov/refunds

For your state refund, you can check your state government's refund lookup service for the latest on your state refund status. Go to this link state government's refund lookup service and select your state to be taken to their refund status lookup page.
