I e-filed 2-13-2021, still waiting for my refund. My IRS transcript is dated 3-23-2021 and shows a 570 code dated 4-05-2021 and then a 571 code dated 4-12-2021. Why these future dates? How can there be a good news 571 code that shows up now, prior even to the 4-05-2021 570 code date?

Depends. The 570 code stops your return processing and 571 code releases your return for processing. The 570 code indicates additional liability is pending. It looks it will be released on 4/12. Normally the IRS will add an additional week to investigate dependents. Did you have earned income tax credit and/or additional child tax credit? If you have earned income credit and/or additional child tax credit, it is probably delayed. Returns with either of these credits are covered under the PATH act, which gives the IRS authority to delay the refund to verify dependent information on your return.
It could be a number of items that stopped the processing. Unemployment benefits, dependency questions, recovery rebate credit/stimulus payments mismatch, just to name a few. But at least your have dates indicating your return will start processing. You may not receive the total amount of the refund you requested. Watch your mailbox for a letter of explanation from the IRS.

Appreciate your reply. I still don’t understand the future dates for the 570 and 571 codes. Checked transcript on 3-23-2021, so why wasn’t 570 “hold” code dated 3-23-2021 or earlier? And how can IRS know a week later that a 4-12-2021 571 release hold code will be justified, way back on 3-23-2021? Dates simply make no sense. Suspect a mismatch problem: Never received a 1099-G for my Calif state tax refund, so used Turbotax’s “no 1099-G” option to report state refund amount. Not taxable for 2020 federal, though, since for 2019 I took standard deduction for federal. None of the other situations you mentioned apply, I am a single, retired filer with no dependents, so my tax situation is not complicated.
Can you update us on what happened ? Did you receive a letter from IRS? I have a 576 code with future date on my transcript. Calling the customer service was not very helpful.
Code 576 is a tax hold ( of some kind for any reason) ... the future date is an estimate of when the issue could be dealt with and then a code 577 would replace it. There is nothing you can do about this but wait for the IRS to complete the process.
My transcript is updated with new code 420 this morning. Does it mean it's an audit?
A transaction code (TC) 420 means that the return was pulled for a potential audit. The return was reviewed, and may or may not have been assigned for audit (in person or through correspondence.). A TC 421 would indicate that the audit was closed.

I received a 570 then a 571 that was back in November of 2019 I haven't heard anything else about it. No, letter, dates are anything.

Quick question yesterday i noticed my 2020 return had been changed on tt and it bow shows the 10200 ui tax break will that be on my 2021 refund?
No, this will not be part of your 2021 refund or tax return. The IRS made that adjustment automatically once the return was received by them. They did not want any amendment being created for that purpose.
Check your tax return for last year, then check the refund you received from the IRS. Also you should have received a refund later in the year for the adjustment. If you believe you did not receive the adjustment then you can try to amend.
Yea i never got it i was just wondering if they would give it to me when i filed this year like i said they just changed my return on turbo tax that reflects the 10200 break
If this is in regards to your 2020 return, you will need to reach out to the IRS directly for direction on this. To do this, please see the steps below:
