TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. If the IRS has not requested extra information from you, then there is little for you to do but wait out the IRS. You can call them.
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
re:1-800-829-1040
Menu must have changed for that number because that is not the menu I get. I tried to jump to a verbal:
personal or individual tax questions and variations, but it only recognizes filing status for one of the last three years and then gives the same response: still being processed.
also tried:
18008294477 – this number is no longer available
1-800-829-1954 -
1-800-829-1954 – where’s my refund hotline – still being processed
main menu
“agent”
It should then transfer you to an agent. -” I’m not able to transfer you to a live representative.”
Menu changes on each phone every time I call in.
