Please be aware, the IRS is currently taking longer to process returns. You can track your refund at the IRS Where's My Refund? site.

It's been three months since I filed my taxes what's going on with my refund?

You will need to follow-up with the IRS to learn more about why it is taking longer than the average time to process your return.  Once your return has been accepted by the IRS, then the processing is in their hands.

 

Call the IRS at 800-829-1040.

It's been three months since I filed my taxes what's going on with my refund?

Three months?  The IRS did not start processing until Feb 12 (not quite 2 months).

 

21 days is its customary goal, but it is taking longer this year.  The IRS is seriously backlogged due to all the new tax laws and extra stimulus filings, as well as unprocessed 2019 returns left over from the COVID shutdown.    Lots of other folks are still waiting, so please continue to be patient.  Also see:
