TurboTax gets no information from the IRS after you file your tax return. TT would have no knowledge whatsoever about a possible audit in your future. TT does have an add-on feature that includes audit support for which you can pay an extra fee. Is that what your email was about? Did you receive a marketing email?
Maybe so: see below
includes Audit Defense.
In the event you are audited, our qualified tax professionals will represent you and defend your covered tax return through the entire audit process.
If you receive a notice from the IRS or state taxing agency, contact us immediately at (877) 829-9695. Do not contact the IRS or State unless instructed by a TaxAudit team member. TaxAudit should be your first contact to ensure effective representation of your case. Our customer service office hours are 8:00 to 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
If you would like a copy of your Membership Packet, you may download it at https://secureintuit.taxaudit.com/membershippacket/68293702.
Thank you,
TurboTax® and TaxAudit
@delonadewitt123 That was just a marketing email. So.....take a breath. It does not mean you are about to be audited. It just means TT wants to sell you an extra service.
And...since that email is referencing a "membership packet" it sounds like maybe you already purchased the support package----maybe without even realizing it?
How can I see my TurboTax fees?
https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/2565973-how-do-i-review-my-fees-in-turbotax-online
Could be. Also the site shows my refund has been accepted and was paid out in the amount disclosed. Fed returns don’t open until 1/29 so not sure what’s going on. Never had issues with turbo tax. Thanks for the insight
@delonadewitt123 Although the IRS is not officially opening to accept returns until January 29, each year they pull a very small test batch to accept and process early. It is possible that you were in that batch.
