I started the 2021 return and saved it. I needed some info for the 2020 return so I brought it up. It wiped out all the work I did for 2021! How can I avoid that?

I had to rekey everything for 2021.  Not entertaining.

The transfer of the 2020 tax file cannot be done after you have begun entering 2021 data.   You can only do that at the very beginning before you enter any 2021 information.   And you need to be in exactly the same account with the same user ID in order to do that if you are using online software.

I have a problem with TurboTax online file save. My tax work for 2021 has not been saved and I need to enter more information before I efile. How do I retrieve my tax work?

I had to re-enter my data, same problem you had, and TurboTax has not saved my work a second time. I was given a measly $20 credit for hours of re-work. Because my work is not saved, I cannot efile.

Is it possible that you are logging in with a different User ID and therefore, you are not finding the tax return that you started. Usually, this is the case if you log in and do not find your already started or completed tax returns and instead are being asked to start from the beginning.
