If you have filed a tax return for 2019, you will automatically receive a stimulus check (or direct deposit if you have provided your bank information to the IRS on a tax return) if your AGI is $75,000 or less ($150,000 if married filing jointly). Please be patient. You can check your payment status by clicking here.

I am relieved. Thanks for your quick response! I read through all the questions listed on IRS regarding stimulus but never saw my situation. At 1st they said going by 2018 returns only & knew I didn't qualify on that year. Then I heard get your 2019 tax returns in as quick as possible as they may use that instead. So then I scrambled to get mine in on 4-14-20 (electronic & did direct deposit). Again, thank you so much!!!

I qualify for stimulus check for 2019 which I filed 3 weeks ago (direct deposit) received refund but not stimulus check. I did not qualify for 2018; did I miss out?

Hi! I have pretty much the same situation and just want to confirm that I understand your answer.

So, I was claimed by my mom in 2018. She has yet to file this year & she already received her stimulus based off last years taxes.

I filed independently this year on 4/15 and my refund was approved a few days ago and received today. Does the status of the tax refund relate to the status of the stimulus at all? I’ve looked up the status of the stimulus a few times and keep getting “Payment Status Not Available”. I’m being impatient I know, I just want to make sure that I’m able to receive it! Thanks

According to the IRS FAQs:

Get My Payment will display one of the following payment statuses:

1. Payment Status (one of two statuses) –

  • A payment has been processed, a payment date is available, and payment is to be sent either by direct deposit or mail.
  • You are eligible, but a payment has not been processed and a payment date is not available.

2. Need More Information – You are eligible for a payment, but we do not have your direct deposit information. You will be given the opportunity to provide your bank information once you have properly verified your identity. Direct Deposit is the fastest way to get your EIP.

3. Payment Status Not Available – We cannot determine your eligibility for a payment at this time. For example, this could mean:

  • You are required to file a tax return, but:
    • We haven't finished processing your 2019 return
    • The application doesn't yet have your data; we’re working on adding more data to allow more people to use it.
  • You don't usually file a return, and:
    • You used Non-Filers: Enter Payment Info Here but we haven’t processed your entry yet
    • You receive an SSA or RRB Form 1099 or SSI or VA benefits; information has not been loaded onto our systems yet for people who don’t normally file a tax return.
  • You’re not eligible for a payment (see Eligibility).

If a payment date is not provided, updates to your payment status are made no more than once per day.

@alorber Hey Adam, this is good to know. Thanks!

May I ask, did the person who claimed you in 2018 file independently for 2019 yet? I ask because I filed independently in 2019 on April 15th (4 days after you did) but I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm not sure if this is because my mom, who claimed in 2018, hasn't filed yet.
