Did you schedule a payment to the IRS?

TO CANCEL A TAX PAYMENT YOU SCHEDULED

If your return was accepted, you cannot change your payment method  or payment date.  The only thing you can do is cancel the payment and then pay by a different method on your own.

  • Call IRS e-file Payment Services 24/7 at 1-888-353-4537 to ask about or cancel your payment, but please wait 7 to 10 days after your return was accepted before calling.
  • Cancellation requests must be received no later than 11:59 p.m. ET two business days prior to the scheduled payment date.

Please clarify. Did you see a confirmation screen after you selected direct debit? If you didn't e-file your taxes, you can go through the process again. and enter the correct information.

I pressed Direct Debit from my bank account too many times

Hello,

I completed Step 2, which was asking me to choose the payment method. I have done this step 2 a couple of times because i was being indecisive. I pressed "i agree" when i gave consent to IRS taking my money from the bank account, but I haven't e-filed taxes, and I did not get any confirmation. pressing "i agree" a couple of times scares me.

Then I completed step 3, and i saw confirmation. so i suppose nothing has happened till i got confirmation

You are allowed to change your mind.

Make sure you want direct debit and the bank info is correct.

The other way to pay which gives immediate confirmation is by direct debit at the IRS website.

Don't select direct debit in both places, only one. !
