Please note that the amendment form 1040X will only be available on TurboTax after 2/19/2026.

Today is 2/20 and I don’t see where the 1040x is available yet? I need to file and amendment via turbo tax where I filed my 2025 tax return. How can I do this? Please help!!

The Form 1040-X for amending a 2025 federal tax return is estimated to be available in TurboTax on 02/25/2026

You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return.
If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again.
If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

amazing for the last month the turbo tax website has been saying the 2025 1040x would be available on or around 2/19 and magically on 2/19 it gets pushed to 2/25.

At least it won't take long to amend my return. Just need to make a few more days.

Now it's pushed back to 3/04... Every week they push it back...

I just checked, and it's not out yet. I tried "Amend My Return" and discovered that the 1040X form isn't out yet.

did you check for updates? mine automatically downloaded when i opened turbotax today.

@amvb005 it sounds like you're using the software for turbotax. So it might have had an early update pushed for the 1040X. 

Trying to use the website to process the return shows that it's unavailable.

Looking again at https://form-status.app.intuit.com/tax-forms-availability/formsavailability it shows the 1040X will be available tomorrow on 02/28
