The date/time you e-filed your return is the date/time that'll be used to determine if it's on time. It may take a couple of days for the agencies to acknowledge your filing but that original date/time will be used to determine if it's on time. So as long as you e-filed before the deadline, they're considered on time!
If your return is pending, you should be fine. Your submitted e-filed return doesn't need to be accepted on April 18 for it to be considered on-time. As long as you transmitted your return by 11:59 p.m. local time on April 18, you should be fine. For more information, please also see the links below:
