I don't qualify for EIC due to age according to TurboTax, but IRS says I do but gave me Form 15112 to mail. Can I get it done through an amendment on TurboTax instead?

I filed my taxes and originally glossed over the EIC section since it vaguely stated I didn't qualify due to my age but didn't give any further details. After I received my return, I got a letter stating that I probably do qualify with a list of the requirements, and I do in fact qualify. But when I went to amend my return to do it online, TurboTax stated again that I didn't qualify due to age with no further explanation available. Is there any way I can do this online or will I have to mail out the form and get the check in 6-8 weeks?

An amended return will take at least 16 weeks to be processed. Mail the IRS form. There is no way to do it online.

Are you doing a 2021 return, or an earlier year?  The EIC rules have changed,

I did the 2021 return when I was notified of all the EIC stuff via the mail. I was hoping that there would be some way to override what it said about not being qualified since it seems that I am qualified on paper.

So there wouldn't be a way to override or at least get an explanation as to why Turbotax says I don't qualify do to age when I do qualify?

Are we talking about a 2021 return?  If so, how old were you on 12/31/2021, and was your DOB correct in the program?

I was 23 by the end of last year. If I was claimed as a dependent in a previous year's tax return, would that disqualify me?

A dependent does not qualify for EIC.  Were you also a full time student in 2021?

@sat1ne5 Only your 2021 circumstances determine whether you can be eligible for EIC on a 2021 tax return.   Your 2020 return is not considered for 2021 EIC.

I was a full time student for the fall semester between August and December of 2021 and I wasn't claimed as a dependent for the 2021 tax year. I've also lived on my own and away from my family for a couple years now.

Checking my return again, it seems I also forgot to change my filing status before I filed and also amended my return. I originally amended it since I received extra paperwork late in the mail.

If you are getting EIC it will be on line 27a of your Form 1040.

I'm not getting it on my original filing, which is why I began posting. I seem to qualify for it but am not receiving it, so the IRS gave me a form to sign and mail them. I just wanted to do it on TurboTax somehow to avoid mailing issues or my SS leaking through possible mailing issues.

The IRS provided you with a form to mail in.    That would seem like the better option since it takes them at least six months to process an amended tax return.  There is no other way to use TurboTax "somehow" other than preparing a Form 1040X to amend your tax return.

The fact that you were 23 at the end of 2021 and that you were a student may be what is keeping you from EIC.  Full-time students under the age of 24 can often be claimed as someone else's dependent---even if they are not claimed.    How did you answer the question in My Info when you prepared your return and it asked if someone else could claim you?    Did you also say you were a full-time student in 2021?
