@vinny.234 - most probably they have yet to process the amendment. this is the risk of submitting an amendment prior to the original return processing. Better part of valor may be to just wait until the amendment is processed and not pay the $1100 - as long as you are confident that you are eligible for the CTC, it will work out without penalty once the amendment is processed..
But it is quite unusual for the CTC not to be correctly submitted from the get-go. Can we review the detailed of that first to be ABSOLUTELY sure you were eligible for the CTC? How can you be missing $9000? The Child Tax Credit was worth no more than $2000 in 2020.
Can you provide some details?
1) how old was your daughter as of 12/31/20? (or, what year was she born?)
2) where you daughter's name is listed on Form 1040, WAY over to the right, there is a little box with the words "child tax credit" above it. Is it checked?
3) what is on lines 13b and 18b of Form 1040.
40 what was the EXACT amount of the IRS adjustment and what was their explanation for the adjustment?
Also, have you checked the status of the amendment? they have been running on a 9-12 month delay:

@vinny.234 - the $1100 adjustment is probably the first two stimulus payments..... the IRS denied that for a dependent. is there more to the story about your daughter? did she file a tax return in 2020 and NOT check the 'I can be claimed by someone else' checkbox? Was she claimed by someone else?
if you claimed CTC on an amendment and the IRS already adjusted your 2020 return and reduced it by the amounts available for the 1st two stimulus payments - there is a good likelihood the amendement will not be accepted either - becuase for some reason they think she is not elgible to be a qualified dependent of yours'.
can you explain more about your daughter? year born? someone else claiming her? who claimed her on 2019 and 2018 tax return?
sounds like there may be more to the story that what you originally posted....
It was included in my question to the community. She was not included on my 2020 return because i mistakenly marked her as not eligible to work. In 2020 all 4 of my children were under the age of 6. I received one stimulus in April of 2020 and did not receive the other the $1,400 stimulus x 5 until July of 2021. I did not receive the 2nd stimulus of $600 per person, just the 1st amount of $500 times 5 in April of 2020. then the big one of $1,400 a piece in July 2021. July 15th to be exact. At that time the offer of having 1/2 of our child tax credit released to us between July 2021 and December I also received my 2020 return. the 2020 return was Amended in September of 2021 which stopped the Sep through December CTC payments. I claimed the rest of this year of filing 2021"s return. it was accepted. the 2020 had already been amended and submitted by me and Turbo representative in September. Their deadline was normally 16 weeks according to the IRS representative I called at the 16 week mark. With all of that being said. MY daughter is 8. She has been on my taxes since she was born all except for 2020 where I literally made one check mark mistake on hers and not on my 3 boys. Its very strange that it sat on the sidelines for 11 months. I have yet to receive her portion for the 2020 CTC, as well as the 2nd round of stimuluses( i had tax preprayer crunch numbers to get an accurate amount and what we received was not what I was rightfully owed.) I also do not have my 2019 tac return and no eligible status update on it. It's been filed since July 12th, 2020. So this is why i am owed more than $9,000 with my numbers calculated by another tax preparer and the $1,100 doesn't add up. i am preparing my appeal letter with the facts and wondering what else I should include? Thanks
She was 6 before 2020 ended. Line 13b says $0.00 and Line18b reads $13,700. amendment has already been done and accepted. but then i got this letter of owing $1100 She was not included on my 2020 return because i mistakenly marked her as not eligible to work. In 2020 all 4 of my children were under the age of 6. I received one stimulus in April of 2020 and did not receive the other the $1,400 stimulus x 5 until July of 2021. @vinny.234 = frankly, I'd wait until that amendment is processed before appealing anything. Then you can appeal based on the things that are still wrong and don't have to get into the details of things that already got corrected. Your case is quite confusing and it will be simplifed once the amendment is processed and you see what the IRS accepted and didn't accept.
on that amendment did you indicate that your daughter was eligible to work and that it was a mistake that you checked the wrong box?
given the IRS is so woefully backlogged, it is not surprising that it took 11 months for your return to be processed.
You indicate tht you submitted the amendment last September, so your amendment should be at the "top of the heap" shortly.
if you are concerned about appealing that you owe $1100 and feel compelled to appeal, suggest doing so on the VERY LAST DAY provided in the appeal letter. your amendment may process by then and what you write in the appeal may be very different. is that $1100 included in the amendment?????
I am also confused about yiour statement that you did not receice the 2nd stimulus. That should have been part of Line 28 of Form 1040 in 2020.
there is nothing else you can do - calling will be fruitless - and doing anything before that amendment is processed is fruitless as well, in my humble opinion.
did you check the amendment website for status?

You may want to enage a local tax preperation expert to help to straighten this out as more amendments and more letters may not yield you the result you are seeking without someone else putting their eyes on your 2020 and 2021 tax return. a local tax expert may be more expedient.
