I e-filed both state and federal returns in February. After both returns had been accepted, I received a corrected mortgage form. I amended both returns, but TurboTax only submitted my federally amended returns. I live in NYS, which seems to be on the list of states that TurboTax can e-file amendments for, so what is the process for e-filing this amended state return? I double checked the amended state return and the corrected information is updated, so I'm not sure if I should go through the "amendment" process a second time if no information will actually change? Thank you!

Unfortunately, TurboTax does not support e-filing the New York amended return. Although, the New York Department of Revenue does state that they accept electronically filed amended return, it is not yet supported by TurboTax. If you continue with the amendment through TurboTax, you will need to print and mail the amended return.
No, you don't need to amend your state tax return again. Any changes you make to amend your federal return will automatically be transferred over to your state return. This is why you are seeing the corrected information updated in your New York state return.
More information on amending your state tax return once it's been filed and accepted. Please see this TurboTax FAQ for assistance.
Great, thank you so much! How do I go about submitting this amended state return via e-filing? I can't seem to find this as an option, despite living in NYS, which I believe should accept an amended e-file from TurboTax.

I am amending a NY State return, and the screen say it's required to be electronically filed, but when I hit continue, the next screen says i cannot electronically file.
Is it for a prior year? How old?
New York does accept e-filed amended returns from NYS.
I need to amend the 2021 NY return. I also saw that NY accepts e-filed amended returns, and in fact TurboTax says that's the only way to do it, but when I continue to the screen to submit it says I can't. It looks like a software glitch.
Can you clarify if you are received a message with the e-file not available? Certain forms are not available for e-file with NY. If you are receiving a error message, respond to this message with the message.
The screen says "How do you want to file?
E-file required for NY"
I click continue. The next screen says "You cannot E-file These returns"
I understand i need to mail the federal amended return, but I think i should be able to e-file the NY amended return.

My concern is that there are no instructions are for mailing, and it explicitly says it's required to be e-filed.
