How can I efile 2021 Amended NY state tax return?

I finished amending my 2021 Federal and NY State tax return via TurboTax Desktop. Both returns were electronically filed via TurboTax Online and were accepted by IRS and NY State Tax. It instructed me to print, sign, date and send my 2021 amended federal tax return by mail and my 2021 amended NY state tax return  will be e-filed. But when I pressed continue to efile my 2021 Amended NY state tax, it did not want through.

Can I send my 2021 Amended NY state tax return by mail as well even though the original return was filed electronically via TurboTax Online?  

If I can still efile the 2021 Amended NY State Tax Return via TurboTax, how can then I efile my 2021 Amended NY state tax return?

Please help. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.

You can mail an amended 2021 New York return if you e-filed the original.

TurboTax does support e-filing New York amended returns, but in some situations, you will not be able to e-file. For example, if you did not e-file an original form with TurboTax you will not be able to e-file the amended return.

Where to file If enclosing a payment (check or money order), mail your return and Form IT-201-V to:

If not enclosing a payment, mail your return to:

STATE PROCESSING CENTER
PO BOX 61000
ALBANY NY 12261-0001

We suggest sending your return by certified mail with proof of delivery.

I need to amend my 2020 return to reflect unreported income.

How to amend 2020 return that was done using IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax?

When I try to amend it online, it says amending it is not supported by IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax. I can download the tax file but what software should I use to amend my 2020 federal & state tax return?

TurboTax is no longer a member of the IRS Free File Alliance. When it was, you were not able to amend any returns on the free site.

You can buy the 2020 TurboTax program and install it on a computer to amend 2020. However, you will have to re-enter all your data plus your amended data.

Go File your 2020 taxes to buy the program.

Or you can use the New York state fill-in forms for 2020.

You may be better off going to a local accountant.
