Has anyone been able to get through to IRS??

I understand IRS is inundated with calls, putting everyone's refunds and stimulus checks and that we need to be patient (yet I have bills, rent and such that need to get caught up with and they are not being as patient because they want there money). And I also understand that this "delay" is no ones fault and so forth.....I personally would like to try and find out if I did indeed do anything wrong with my filing, and have been trying to call the IRS to check if I have done anything wrong with my filing and if I need to resolve this so I can receive my refund, as its been well and truly over 21 days since it was accepted by the IRS through TT.

Has anyone successfully gotten through to the IRS by phone to see if the "Your tax return is still being processed. A refund date will be provided when available",  indeed a delay or if they had encountered just a issue with there personal filing. Because this is getting a little beyond the joke when you can't get through to ANYONE to figure out if its just a IRS delay issue because they are having to do 100 things at once with both getting everyone's stimulus checks out as well as personal tax refunds and such. All I want to do is find out if I need to fix my filing, or my filing is perfectly fine and that I just need to sit back and wait.

I did get my stimulus without issue, so I am hoping that's a good sign that my 2020 filing has no issues either.

I apologize if I sound ungrateful and or impatient, that's not the case at all. I am only upset because I need to know if the issue is from my filing, just keep getting that the IRS phones are busy and my call is going to be disconnected.

Has anyone been able to get through to IRS??

Finally got through after repeat dialing, and followed the instructions that I had seen on another post, (I added it here), on getting through to a live person about your filing after 21 days. Unfortunately after the very last step, "Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", the automated lady says the same thing when you are trying to call through, "due to high call volume we are unable to complete the call and to call back at a later time or next business day".

I am going to still keep trying.

Since your return has been accepted more than 21 days, you can phone the IRS, if you wish, to see if they can tell you what is going on with your return.   Here's how to normally reach a live IRS agent, but these are not normal times, so it won't be easy.

IRS:  800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday

When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.

  • First choose your language.  Then listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • Then press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."
  • It may then ask for your SSN, but do not enter it.  Just wait.    If it asks for SSN a second time, still do not enter it.
  • Then it will get "tired", and you'll get another menu.  Choose 2 for "personal".
  • Then in the next menu choose 4 for "all other inquiries", and it should transfer you to an agent but expect a long wait.

Due to the pandemic and the volume of calls, the IRS may limit the number of people who can hold for an agent. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is try again later.
