I e- filed my Federal return, it was accepted and the amount deducted from my checking account. I filed for an extension on m y New Mexico return. I opened TurboTax a couple of times and it had what I owed to the state. I was ready to file today, but when I opened TurboTax, it said I owed the Federal taxes and not the state.
I checked the electronic filing history. It said it could not find any record with the SSN or EIN. Then it said the filing was changed to state. I e-filed my state return without a payment. Turbo Tax now says everything is filed.
I presume the deduction from my checking account went to the state. How do I get my money owed on the Federal form paid?

Appears nobody here has an answer. Where do I go to find one?
You said the amount was deducted from your checking account? What is the description on the Debit? Was it the right amount for federal or state?
It was the right amount for Federal. State was about $200 less. TT says I still owe Feds. The electronic filing history said Filing Center couldn't find record with SSN. Review of return finds no errors. Both were accepted. Do I file an amended with the Feds?
I'm not understanding the problem. Turbo Tax will always say the final tax due or refund. That's just the state of your return when you filed. They don't know it got paid. It isn't updated when you pay or get a refund. Your only proof if your bank account or credit card showing the payment coming out.
Are you using the Desktop program? What filing history? Where? I think there is some problem with the Desktop program Check Electronic Filing not being updated with the accepted status. If you got the refund or your payment went though then don't worry about it.
Oh, and for State........
Check the printout or PDF of your return; look for the state cover sheet with the Turbo Tax logo. If you owed tax, it will show the payment information and how/when you decided to pay. Read the state payment instructions carefully since most states cannot be paid from within the TT system and requires additional steps.

Your only proof of payment is your bank statement or credit card showing the payment coming out. Turbo Tax only passes your bank account number to the state for the state to take it out of your account. But most states do not let you pay by Direct Debit so you have to mail in a check or go directly to the state's website to pay.
As far as I can tell, I paid the Feds and still owe the state. Used desktop this year, online last year, desktop before that for several years. Never had a problem.
