Question

Federal return accepted 1/28, nothing since...

I e-filed my federal return through TurboTax on 1/25. It was received by the IRS on 1/27 and updated to accepted by the IRS on 1/28. I filed my state return on 1/30, got the accepted notice on 1/31, and received that return via direct deposit today, 2/11. I've never gotten my state return before my federal, ever. When I check the Where's My Refund? tool on the IRS website it has only one bar signifying that it has been accepted and is being processed, and it hasn't updated since the 28th when it was initially accepted. It also gives me the Topic 152 notification, which just seems to be general info about how returns are processed. Has anyone else experienced this? I can't get the IRS on the phone to figure out what the holdup is.

My status still hasn't been updated on the IRS.gov WMR tool. They sure are taking their time this year, huh?

Same exact thing has happened to me, all the same acceptance dates I have he emails also for the 27th saying accepted . But the IRS tracking thing says received but not processed accepted or sent . I don’t understand and I also got my state tax return which wasn’t much but I’ve never gotten that one first . Very confused and also having a hard time getting answers

I filed on 2/1 was accepted that day by both fed and state.  Nothing has changed but the being processed bar.  My gf filed on 1/31 accepted on 2/1 she received her refund on 2/11.  I was paper audited 3 years ago and wonder if I ll have to wait extra time every year now just like the past couple?

@jreece59  I was also audited for my 2014 return. Last year they got basically my entire refund. But it seems to me there is no common thread among us. It is just taking them an extra long time this year. I know all about the 21 day thing, the IRS has been saying that forever, but I’ve always gotten my federal refund faster than that. My 1 bar on WMR went away & now it simply says that my return is still processing. 🙄

Same.. mine was accepted on 1/31, still says being processed with the topic attached. sucks.. stressing out now because my husband has old student loans that we've been paying on but did a general forbearance in November because he got hurt and has been off work.  Praying they don't keep our return for that

Same here, minus the state tax. (Texas)

Filed and accepted 1/29 and have been stuck on the first bar on WheresMyRefund since.  No deductions.  No kids.  Filed single.  Basically the easiest and fastest return you can submit.

I also don't "need" the money, I just want it to be deposited and get it over with so I can put it in savings.

Side note - co-worker w/kids, married, and with several deductions filed several days after me also using TurboTax got his refund three days ago.  Makes no sense.

It always take forever to send my refund. I’m on day15 without anything yet. I’m starting to think there’s absolutely nothing turbo about this company other then the acceptance of my refund and the time it takes to fill my taxes but that’s it.

They will be getting sued in a class action lawsuit for falsely misleading people with the “it’s free to file”, I just submitted all my info to the firm representing the case.  This is the last year I’ll be using TurboTax.

Where’s my refund? Been using TurboTax for years and it’s always been efficient and the latest I’ve received my refund was 11 days from date of filing and that was last year. What’s going on this year?  What’s taking so long? IRS accepted my refund on 1/27. So why hasn’t the bank out of California processed my refund? Won’t be using TurboTax next year nor will I recommend it.

Does anyone have the number to actually get a human on the phone at the IRS to see what's going on with the refunds? I'm at Day 18 now, so I'll need it come Monday. Thanks.

IRS number when you call choose option 1 for english option 3 to get a live representative on the line

I called yesterday I filed federal tax with the EIC and the CIC on 1/23/2020 it was accepted on 1/27/2020 and the bar appeared in the WMR app a week later it disappeared and I received a message stating TT152 a date will be given when available so i called the IRS to verify what's going on they informed me that the IRS is not issuing any taxes that have the EIC and the CIC until after the 15th of february However they did do a test batch for some to be released early February but that was only to a selected few so hopefully we will see it soon in our accounts hope this helped you.

@Budman36 Your comment is inappropriate and inaccurate.  Perhaps your senator is either misinformed or merely a Trump hater, as you appear to be.  But your information is incorrect.  Here's a link if you know how to click on it and read why returns are being delayed.  If it weren't for the tax reforms made by our President, many wouldn't even be getting a refund.  Have a nice day!  https://thecollegeinvestor.com/18645/tax-return-will-be-delayed/
