I filed January 24th but my federal refund says I’m not able to get my refund until mid/late febuary because I claimed the child tax credit. Why is that and will that also affect my state return as well?

Your state refund is not affected by your federal return.
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.
STATE RETURN
Make sure your state return was accepted: https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
To track your state refund:

The PATH act is supposed to help prevent fraud associated with earned income credit and the refundable additional child tax credit, so the IRS holds those refunds longer.

Does that include my state taxes as well? I’m sorry this is my first year claiming my kids
@J-staks The PATH act is a law that affects federal tax returns. Your state is completely separate and has its own tax laws.
