For the past 8 years using turbotax my return passes software audit, but is then rejected by IRS I have the correct adjusted gross income figure. I have even requested from the IRS a copy of my return from the prior year 2 weeks before filing just to make sure. To add insult to injury, I have paid turbotax the additional fee to file state taxes. While they say I will not be charged if rejected, I have in fact paid 100's of funds with no benefit. I still do not have my 2020 tax refund as I had to file paper. Now a tax advocate says I need to enter ZERO in adjusted gross income to avoid rejection>?? Any comments? Also how do I get my filing fees back from turbtax for past years? How to actually talk to a live person???

Since your 2020 return has not yet been fully processed then your 2020 AGI is not in the system for the IRS to use to match you up with that number. So, yes, in order to e-file 2021 you need to try using "zero" instead. You do not say if you have been filing late in the filing season for some of those past years-----if so, then you might be filing so late that the IRS has not put your previous AGI into the system and cannot match it up.
As for the state e-filing fees with the CD/download, you must talk with customer support. Only customer support can help with billing issues.

Customer support is available from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific time daily
No one in the user forum can resolve a billing issue. If you have a question about your TurboTax fees or billing, make sure you use the word “billing” in your request for help. Do not use the word “refund.”
Even IRS on its website says to use AGI = zero if your 2020 refund has been delayed and AGI = 1 if you used the non-filer portal.
