There are about 3 million other 2020 filers an 1.8 million 2019 that have not received their refunds.

The IRS is running behind due to COVID, CARES Act, stimulus and a huge amount of early tax returns being filed this year.

See this IRS newsroom release: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-operations-during-covid-19-mission-critical-functions-continue

They are so delayed that they postponed the filing date from April 15 to May 17.

21 days is not a magic number - it is just a goal.

TurboTax only gives the general IRS (most returns are processed within 21 days) date. The actual date is known only by the IRS. TurboTax also does not adjust the general date for anything on the tax return. TurboTax receives no feedback from the IRS after filing.

The IRS says most refunds will be issued within 21 days - some faster, some longer.
(Most means more than half so many take longer - MUCH longer)

Each tax return is evaluated on it's own merits. There is no first-in-first-out. Two similar tax return submitted at the same time can have totally different processing times based on IRS criteria for examining tax returns that the IRS does not divulge.

Some returns will be held for ID verification or other verification. The IRS will send a letter if they require more information to process your tax return.

So I'm not a Total idiot, I get how the process works, and like I said in my post "I Know I'm not the only one". I have family that works for the Gov/Irs. But that's neither here nor there... My issue, over this COVID /Pandemic awful time in the world, I have felt that I have been last on everything! Like dead "A" Last. I just (Now remember I'm not the only one with this issue) am gettin super frustrated when I can't track nor get legit answers about my taxes (Now remember I do understand It's frustrating for all and I can't reiterate that enough), so please understand where I'm coming from when I say this... I'm involved in many FB groups, many forums, and so fourth yet I'm the only one in all these groups that hasn't gotten their full unemployment yet. I'm the only one that hasn't received this 2nd or 3rd stimulus check (if I did, it was in an out so fast I probably never saw it). I've filed weekly and just started every Tuesday, due to questions I have, and the portal being slow Sundays and Mondays from traffic. I get it and understand EVERYTHING is backed up! I'm loosing my Mind RN (others are if not have already as well) because I start receiving then it stops then I'll get more then stops, I filed my taxes really early because I didn't want to wait like I did for unemployment. I'm loosing faith in the gov, and borderline lost faith in humanity. (Long story short, During COVID summer of 2020, I was Jumped by 5 people, gay slurs, racist comments we're said, they broke me femur and the media, police made me look like a terrible person that I'm not, so no help anywhere)  Not looking for sympathy or anything of that nature, I just can't keep quiet anymore, I've been super patient as I'm sure many Many others have. I'm simply just voicing my frustration, questions, (Not that it helps) and concerns with hopes for some answers and reassurance that I along with others are not forgotten. I refuse to ever be homeless ever again! It's just a little hard when you have a broken femur and the Media and City assist in getting your gofundme removed, and can't find a job. Can't continue to make excuses for the GOV as if they didn't see this "TAX" issue coming, tax season comes every year, rain, snow, sunshine and COVID! Tax season doesn't give A 💩! It's coming. So excuse me for not being impressed.

So thanks for answering maybe 1 or 2 out of 20 questions I have about my taxes!

Tired of not thriving and feeling Low w/no support. 😢

No need to reply either, I'll just go mow my non existent lawn again, or go play in traffic while I wait another 3-6 months for answers. Maybe even start an OnlyFans, haven't tried that yet... Oh wait, that's right no-one like my FEET! 😢😭

At this point, you have not received a letter and it is processing since Feb. It is time to call the IRS. 800-829-1040 / 800 729 1954 do not push for refund, do not enter your social, do as little as possible to get routed to a human.

It has been a crazy year with the laws changing in March and then all the states are having to decide what they are doing. Changes are still happening daily.  The IRS has not printed guidelines for their processing and it feels very random as to who gets how much. A lot of people are getting part of their refund. I am sorry that you have been through so much.

If you are being affected by not having your refund, it may be time to reach out to a Taxpayer Advocate. The taxpayer advocate was created to help individuals deal with the IRS. See Taxpayer Advocate | Internal Revenue Service

You can contact a taxpayer advocate at Taxpayer Advocate Locator

Good luck!
