Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.
They told you 60 days----and it has not even been 60 days yet? Keep watching the IRS refund site. TurboTax will not get any information. Only the IRS can tell you when your review is complete and your refund will be issued.
IRS is currently working the backlog of unprocessed 2020 tax returns.
After that they should turn to the growing backlog of unprocessed 2021 tax returns.
bro what ? u make no sense tht has nothin to do with my problem . they holding my taxes for 60 days ... U talkin about something else lol
It has everything to do with your currently unprocessed 2021 tax return.
According to IRS and the Taxpayer Advocate Erin Collins, returns are processed first come, first served.
The 60 day estimate is left over from the old days.
@fanfare is correct. The IRS has announced that it is processing leftover 2020 returns first, before they do 2021. And this says at least 60 days:
Understanding Your CP05 Notice | Internal Revenue Service (irs.gov)

@ThaTaker You posted to a thread that has had no activity for more than two years. If the IRS has your return under review or has delayed issuing your refund, only the IRS can tell you when it will be sent. TurboTax never gets any information from the IRS after your e-file has been accepted, nor can TT speed the IRS up for you. You can watch the IRS refund site, call the IRS, or contact a Tax Advocate if you are undergoing a hardship due to the delay.
Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2023 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.
Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 3 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.
TAX ADVOCATE
At the following IRS website, find the USA map and click on your state, and it will give you the number of your area's IRS Taxpayer Advocate.
