Checking Direct Debit Payment Status, Date, and Amount

I filed my 2020 Fed Tax last Tuesday, March 9th via Intuit Turbo Tax & was accepted by the IRS the same day.  I owe & chose for the IRS to debit my Bank's savings account to pay.  To date, on March 11 the IRS has not debited my Savings account.  I called my bank & confirmed my savings account has no pending debit charge.

 Thank you.

Checking Direct Debit Payment Status, Date, and Amount

First, please remove your order number from this public forum.  Second, the IRS is probably still processing your return, and might not pull the payment until it is finished doing so, or even a few days later.  But check with your bank/credit union to see if it allows direct debit of savings accounts, as a few do not.

In the future, you can tell the program you are going to mail a check,  and then pay directly on the IRS website. That way, you get an instant confirmation.

I owed taxes were available in my checking account on 4/14  for the IRS and to date 4/16 the account has not been debited, IRS has not pulled the funds. Reached out to the bank and there are no pending debits after against the funds. How can the matter at hand be resolved?

Checking Direct Debit Payment Status, Date, and Amount

The IRS/States is currently processing a high volume of e-filed returns, so it can take several days for your payments to go through.

The IRS/States may debit the payment after the deadline. Also, it can take the banks another few days to post the debit to your account.

As long as you filed you return or extension on or before April 15, 2026, and you selected April 15, 2026, or earlier as your payment date, you won't get penalized for late payment.

If you don't see the debit in your bank account 7–10 days after their return has been accepted,  call the IRS e-file Payment Services at 888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency.
