Changing from standard deduction to itemized deduction online 2018 amedment

How do you change from the standard deduction to itemized deduction in  the amended tax return? I need to lower my deductions so I have taxable income (This will allow me to get the american oppurtunity tax credit).  Is this possible to do online? Thanks!

Here is the information on how to file an amended return in TurboTax:  Amending Return - How to correct my return?  To change from the Standard Deduction to Itemized Deductions in TurboTax follow these steps:

1. While in your Tax Home,
2. Select Wages & Income,
3. Select Review/Edit,
4. Select Deductions & Credits (from the tabs on top),
5. Select Wrap Up Tax Breaks,
6. Continue through the screens, until you get to the screen that states that Based on what you told us Standard Deduction is best for you.  Select Change my deduction.

Here is some information on the American opportunity tax credit (AOTC) is a credit for qualified education expenses paid for an eligible student for the first four years of higher education.  If the credit pays your tax down to zero, you can have 40 percent of the remaining amount of the credit (up to $1,000) refunded to you.  IRS Information on AOTC

Hi, I have tried this but it does not work.  In the 2018 amended form as soon as I hit wrap up tax breaks it brings me back to the home page.

@jamessemmen Please see the directions below on how to change to itemized on amending:

1. On left, select Tax Tools.
2. Select Tools.
3. Select Topic Search.
4. In search box type Itemized Deductions.
5. Press the Go button.

Yes I am trying to do that on my 2018 amended tax form online.  I press go and it brings me to my deductions.  There is no option to choose that I have looked at all of the drop boxes. I clicked wrap up tax breaks after and it just brings me back to the home page.
