Federal Returns: Accepted
30 mins later, i get an e-mail saying my CA State Taxes were rejected because of the code in the subject line...what gives?
When i go into the software, it does not prompt me to fix anything...just has me re-file to the state.

Same exact thing just happened to me
Same here
I had this happen to me too. When I went back in to correct it, it said there was a schema mismatch between the Federal and CA state surrounding some of the Energy Efficient credit form (which by the way, TurboTax didn't let me finish my taxes because this wasn't even ready until 2/7).
Curious, did anyone else do this:

Form 5695?
After I logged back in there was information missing on Line 21a, 21b and some others. I'm not really sure how the Federal IRS 'accepted' this to be honest, or if TurboTax just failed to copy it onto the state version automatically since I had started my process prior to the forms being ready on 2/7.
I correct it and attempted to re-efile. Will see what happens....
How interesting. I used the Energy Credit form too, but didn’t see same errors. I will go back and check.
Ah yeah so for mine, it was Section B, lines 21a, b and c, that must have been left empty/unanswered/blank. Again, I think it was because I attempted to finalize filing prior to 2/7 (back on 2/2 I believe), and then I finished up my taxes yesterday early afternoon once they let me know it was ready. However, by that time, the state portion probably had copied missing/incomplete data and TurboTax didn't pick up on it.
Feels like a TurboTax bug honestly, so I anticipate others are going to see this happen over the weekend.
Following up that as of 9:39p PT, California appears to have accepted my state return now (just got the e-mail confirmation anyway).
so if the federal return has already been accepted, should we go ahead and fill in 21a,b,and c before re-filing the California return?
I wonder if TurboTax will even let you change the Federal and e-File the state if the Federal has already been accepted. Does TurboTax give you the option after filling out the boxes on the Federal form?
Mine got rejected but I don't see any error messages anywhere (outside the X0000-020 error) even after running the Review again. Looking at the form, Part B is not filled out at all. I am filing for the credit only for a Solar Energy system I installed, no other energy improvements, so not sure I have to fill out that part of the form. Even though I didn't change anything I resubmitted the state again just to see how it goes.
My state return got accepted almost immediately after I resubmitted and I didn't change anything. Maybe the issue was on the State's computer system.
Thanks. I did the same thing, with the same results. I couldn't find anything wrong, finally just re-submitted, and it was accepted immediately.
Me, too. Solar only, and it just didn't look to me as if the 21a,b, and c needed me to put anything in them.
Haha, I know that I wasn't about to try to mess with a 1040 that had already been accepted!
We had the same issue regarding state being denied. We fixed the missing information on form 5695 lines 21 and 22 and filing in the missing address. Sent it this morning and it got accepted an hour later.
