Been 5 weeks since I sent in my amended return and the IRS shows it still hasn't received it?

Same exactly, it was April for me and it still says it’s being reviewed and it’s Dec 3 that’s 8 months

Mine says they received it in April but it hasn't been processed yet. In January, I'm gonna be sure I have everything before filing!

My amended return is simple too. Turbo tax put 2019 w2 info instead of 2020 w2 wages. It was a weird computer glitch. Because of this, I didn’t receive any child tax credit money this year. It’s 7 months since I filed the amended return. I mean really? It takes 7 months for a return to sit on someone’s desk? I know they are backlog but come on, this is ridiculous already. Calling them is a waste of time. TAS said on its website that they are requiring the IRS to have amended returns completed by December 29th or they have to explain when it will be done.  Let’s see if that actually works.

Ok guys so get this, my partners return was showing as received and "IN PROCESS" for about 7 weeks we were checking the irs website for the status almost every day but since November 11th it no longer is showing in process. It says sorry we received it but have not processed it. Isn't that ridiculous. Did someone just decide not to complete it ? What are you even suppose to think ? It's just so frustrating.

That’s the same message that I got. I called the number and the irs agent told me since it’s been way over 20 weeks, she will send a note to the person that’s assigned my return that they have 30 days to settle the account. Well, it’s been 30 days and nothing has been updated on my transcript and no refund. I can’t even use the where’s my amended return tool bc it comes up with that message. My amended return isn’t complicated either. The irs owes me a refund of almost 9k. It’s so frustrating. I’m tired of hearing them say “be patient”. I think waiting 7 months is beyond being patient at this point.

last year (2019 Form 1040) an amended return filed in April was finally processed with a refund in Jan 2020.

Expect this year to be no better, or even worse.

Beyond frustrating.   I see people posting about how long its' taking and it's literally nothing compared to mine.  The IRS confirms they've received my amended return on March 3rd of 2020... and it's the same covid BS rules.  I call every couple months and it's the same BS.  Due to covid.... and yet i see others no where near this mark get their amended returns back. we're 3 months away from it being the 2 year mark......  Insanity

I try not to think about it. I filed in April. It would be a welcoming SURPRISE to receive it. It would even be nice to know it is being processed. But of course that hasn't happened either. Good luck to all of us waiting. They have know idea nor do they care that some may be depending on this money that is due to  us.

There is hope for all of you waiting on your amended return. I filed an amended return in August 2020 and today in mid-December 2021, I received a check in the mail that was inclusive of interest. My information never showed up (and still doesn't) in the "Where's My Amended Return" app on the IRS website. So.... they're catching up slowly but surely!

Makes me feel more hopeless.  they received mine on March 3rd, 2020 and I haven't gotten anything and nothing updated other then they've received it but hasn't been processed.   I call them every 3 months but there's nothing they can say other then covid, etc and just call back if you don't receive it in another 3 months (which i never do).    Just 2.5 months away from 2 full years....  Did they pay you interest?

Yes, they paid interest. Mine was from a 2018 return if that helps. It never showed up in the system as having been received, and I was never able to get anyone on the phone. Receiving the check today was a total surprise. In the beginning, I would check my mail every day. But eventually, of course, stopped doing that. I wonder whether some amended returns, depending on the issues they involve, have to go to special reviewers and whether that slows downs certain types of amended returns.

I appreciate all you guys sharing the info but it all gives me anxiety I think I will just unsubscribe. I am not even waiting for a refund I just want to be able to finally move and purchase the home I promised my kids. We amended returns this year in May and you guys have been waiting for over a year which only makes me sad. Our amended return is a congressional case with tax advocate services I wonder if that will even help if they will even expedite it.

Wow that’s great! August 2020, I guess you’ve been waiting for over a year for your refund. I hope mine doesn’t take that long. I filed mine in May 2021. Hopefully it gets processed soon. Thanks for the update.
