@Notaboy I suspect the reason you are having an issue with EITC is because you were denied that once before (2015), Form 8862 needs to be filled out along with the tax filing in this circumstance.  I wonder if the preparer failed to do that.....

Alternatively, it's got something to do with the children.  The exact difference of your refund is the EITC and the child tax credit ($4500).  if the children are not on the tax return, the $4500 would be denied and the EITC for your income level with no children is $-0-. 

 

The $14 is unlikely to have anything to do with it - the tax is only $1.40 in any event.

Add that $14 to $21,698= $21,712 

Earned income credit drops down to $6,264

I know it's crazy because I proved kids are my biological daughter's and live with me all yr back in 2015 every thing I sent in to irs this year is basically the same information from 2015 just different dates on information.

From everything I been reading if it's over $10 on 1099int it has to be reported if not expect some delays
