Amending tax return

I accidentally saved over my daughter's original tax return when trying to amend with form 1040x. Now turbotax thinks there is no difference between the origianl and amended returns and it was rejected by the irs. If I redo her taxes as the original, turbotax thinks it hasn't been submitted.

How can I fix this through the tax software?

Did you you cancel the amended return?  Click on Cancel Amend on the left side of the online program screen.

After the amended return has been cancelled, go back through the tax return and reverse all the changes you made so the tax return is Exactly how it was before being amended.

The filing status of the tax return should be as it was originally filed.
