I filed an amended return back in April of 2021 (it's now been almost a year) and I have yet to receive it. I called the IRS before and the girl just told me to give it another 30 days. Still didn't receive it. I check the "Where's My Amended Return" function on IRS.gov almost everyday to wait for an update, but now it doesn't even show up when I enter my information. The website just tells me my information does not match any of their records, and I know for a fact I am entering it correctly. I even tried the hot line option, still told me my information does not match any records. I can't even get through to talk to a representative now, so I'm starting to freak out that my amended return was thrown out or something like that after almost a year of it sitting in the "has not been processed" stage. Am I starting to panic for no reason? Is there something else I can do? I even tried calling my local branch but they only have a number for scheduling appointments.

It is taking months and months for IRS. To catch up on processing regular returns let alone amendments. I just got an adjustment for an amended return I filed in 2019. It’s probably Not exactly what you wanna hear but unfortunately the IRS is unable to keep up with the volume of work that they have and I don’t see any change anytime soon .
Hang in there it will eventually come .

So I shouldn’t be worried now that it’s not appearing anymore when I check “Where’s My Amended Return?”
My 2017 amended return never showed up on the IRS website. After 1.5 years I finally got a letter from them asking to fax the same documents that I had already mailed to them twice. (over 100 pages and they wouldn't allow me to email them).
The IRS site to check Where's my amended return is essentially non-functional, like the rest of our government.
Still waiting on over $20k the IRS owes me but not holding my breath.
Overall the situation just makes me sad.
