I efiled an amended Federal 2020 return in the beginning of April 2021 for three reasons:
(1) a missed W2,
(2) $10,200 Unemployment Tax credit, and
(3) a missed Education Credit.
According to "where's my amended return," the amended return has been
received (4/8/2021),
adjusted (6/4/2021) and
completed (6/25/2021).
In late June a refund for the unemployment tax credit was direct deposited and the letter/notice I received says nothing about an amended return. It just says that my 2020 form 1040 was adjusted to correct your unemployment compensation.
The IRS made no adjustments for the other two reasons (missed W2 or the missed Education Credit). Yet, they say that my amended return was completed. I should do next. Wait? or File another amended return?

amended returns take 4 to 6 months to fully process and for the IRS to issue a refund. the refund you got was due to the IRS automatically adjusting for exempt UC based on the original return.
Agreed. The IRS NEVER sends a direct deposit for an amended return. They only mail a check when you get a refund for an amended return. You received the refund for your original return--not the amended one. The IRS might have adjusted your refund for the new tax law.
Any refund still owed to you for the other W-2 you entered or the education credit will be coming later when they fully process the Form 1040X
Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return. During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns. Do not expect quick results from amending. When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check. They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns. You can watch for information here:
