Filed an amended 2020 return in April 2021.
According to IRS (checked amended status on their website), amended return was "received" in April 2021, and "adjusted" and "completed" in February 2022. In February I received a paper notice from IRS regarding my refund adjustment.
When will I actually receive the refund? It's been 3 months since I received the paper notice. Calling the IRS is impossible. Tried dozens of times and can never get through.
Is anyone else waiting this long to get a refund after the amended return process is "completed," according to the IRS?

This is the number for amended returns.
have a copy of your original 1040, 1040-X and the letter when you call.

If the check was mailed, your amended return status will show that.
OR,
Wait, eventually the check will come.
Did you check your account transcript at www.IRS.gov ? Does it show a refund being released ?
You may want to contact a Taxpayer Advocate in your area. See this IRS website for Taxpayer Advocate in your area and a toll free number - http://www.irs.gov/Advocate/Local-Taxpayer-Advocate
Thanks!
Checked the 2020 transcript, it says nothing about the refund being released. It does provides a negative balance - ie, my refund - and says that a notice was sent in February (which indeed it was).
what did the notice say? maybe there was something you had to do so your refund would be released or perhaps the notice said something had to be checked. this could take 6 months
Notice said my refund amount was adjusted down a bit (I can see the calculation they made in my account statement), and that I could appeal the adjustment by writing to the IRS within 60 days, but of course one doesn't have to appeal. I've received these kinds of notices before. It's a pro forma thing the IRS always does - allowing for 60 days to appeal. I'm not appealing the adjustment. In the past, I simply received the refund almost as soon as I got the notice. If it was a regular electronic return it would get direct-deposited. If it's an amended return I got a check in the mail.
By the way, the notice itself does NOT appear on my online account, which is strange. The IRS mailed a paper notice back in February, which I did receive and kept in a tax file (manila folder). I misplaced the folder a couple of weeks ago. It's somewhere in my office or home, but I don't know where.
Thank you.
Thanks for your response, by the way.
