After you file

Notice said my refund amount was adjusted down a bit (I can see the calculation they made in my account statement), and that I could appeal the adjustment by writing to the IRS within 60 days, but of course one doesn't have to appeal. I've received these kinds of notices before. It's a pro forma thing the IRS always does - allowing for 60 days to appeal. I'm not appealing the adjustment. In the past, I simply received the refund almost as soon as I got the notice. If it was a regular electronic return it would get direct-deposited. If it's an amended return I got a check in the mail.

By the way, the notice itself does NOT appear on my online account, which is strange. The IRS mailed a paper notice back in February, which I did receive and kept in a tax file (manila folder). I misplaced the folder a couple of weeks ago. It's somewhere in my office or home, but I don't know where.
