If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 16 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.
Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.
See this TurboTax support FAQ on amending a tax return originally completed and filed using the 2020 TurboTax online editions - https://ttlc.intuit.com/community/amending/help/how-do-i-amend-my-turbotax-online-return/01/27577
The IRS Form 1040-X for amending a 2020 tax return is scheduled to be available on 03/25/2021 (subject to change)
Ok so have to wait now for that form to amend....even if State has not been accepted yet?
And will we have to amend on paper on can we e-file again?? I did go through and amended return already

If you accessed the 2020 tax return that was filed and made Any changes, please remove the changes you made. The 2020 tax return has to be exactly as filed before you amend the tax return.
If you e-filed the 2020 tax return then you should be able to e-file the 2020 amended tax return, Form 1040-X.
Since the Form 1040-X will not be available until 03/25/2021 your state return should have been accepted before that date. If the amended federal tax return is changed then you may also have to amend the state tax return that was filed.
It allowed me to amend online already but not able to submit??
So do I wait for that form and can I E-file at least for Federal?? And how will I amend State? Can I E-file or has to be done on paper??
Please advise
OH wow I have to go back and delete changes....I really wish it did not have tab to allow me Amend until form available very deceiving!!!!
I also am very concerned because it did ask me a few additional questions and has to amend a couple of items from previous return....so I am not sure if will have issue getting it back exactly as initial return??
I can delete W2 added
I am very concerned it allowed me to Amend with tab available when should not have amended??

Assuming that you are using one of the TurboTax online web based editions, if you clicked on the Amend using TurboTax online button, you should have gone to a screen that states It looks like your federal return can't be amended right now
Which TurboTax online edition are you using?
It is the disc downloaded purchased from Costco deluxe
It allowed me to make changes!!! Please advise as want to do right thing but Amend allowed me to make changes

Thank you for the feedback.
You should remove your changes since the 2020 Form 1040-X is not yet available for amending a federal tax return.
I will report this issue to the TurboTax Moderators for why the software allowed an amend when the form is not yet available.
