2019 taxes filed late & mailed feb 2022

Wondering how long it will take to receive my 2019 refund since I filed and mailed my taxes out in February 2022? I know there is a backlog of mail in tax returns, so I am just wondering what the estimate would be for my return to be sent to me (if there were no errors or set backs in the filing) ? Ive already checked the irs.gov where’s my refund, but have gotten a generic response: We cannot provide any information about your refund. Be sure to:

  • verify your filing date;
  • check with your tax preparer

this happened to me when checking my 2021 taxes. And I did get the refund (the exact amount I was owned) even though their website said the same response. I dont feel the website is accurate for everyone wanting an update.

Mailed returns are taking a lot longer like 6 months or more.

It is taking the IRS at least six months to process mailed returns.   Nothing about a 2019 return is going to show up on the IRS refund site, which only shows information for 2021 returns.  So you are just in for a long and patient wait for them to process your return.
